Cusco, Peru Medical Internship

With the VAW Global Alliances Corporation, I traveled to Cusco, Peru to serve the local community with no-cost health clinics. I assisted in patient registration, vitals, distribution of pharmaceuticals, and shadowed Peruvian physicians. In addition, we attended an elementary school to participate in bonding/learning activities with the students. I served as the ambassador and content creator for the social media team.

Phlebotomist/ Waived Testing

As a Certified Phlebotomy Technician, I obtained a job at the University Health Center as a student assistant and phlebotomist. While gaining direct patient care and clinical experience, I perform venous blood collections, receive and accession laboratory specimens using electronic systems, and evaluate patient billing. On the job, I was approved to conduct waived testing. Waived testing includes undergoing laboratory tests to gather results. These tests include urine pregnancy tests, Trichomoniasis, Bacterial Vaginosis swabs, Whole blood glucose, and Hemoglobin.
